Sallie: Do you ever wonder what happens to all those little girls at weddings who slide across the floor in their stocking feet?
Jen: They put their shoes on, Sallie.

She's got her shit so much together that I wonder sometimes if she really knows her own feelings.

I've been noticing lately the interesting phenomenon of people who don't have feelings. I had to explain to my friend the other day what guilt was and what it felt like for me. "No, I've definitely never felt anything like that," she replied.

Oooooh no [Mar. 7th, 2007|02:10 am]
I pulled my pectoral muscle while coughing. This is fantastic for many reasons.
a. It hurts to laugh hard.
b. It hurts to cough, which I need to do since I have bronchitis.
c. It hurts to breathe hard, aka exercise, among other less healthy things.
d. People ask me if I am rubbing my chest in public and I say yes.
e. Regionals is this weekend and it hurts to raise my arm aka hold a weapon.

Also, Adele, I want you to know that I am watching Stephen Colbert on the other half of my computer screen. Ben and Jerry are being interviewed, and they just busted out a larger version of your mom's awesome pin that's a pie graph of where our tax dollars go. It's like your mom is on TV!

Ramblings/Angst (I'm sorry?) [Jan. 15th, 2007|06:04 pm]
So this time the fight I'm having with another person isn't just in my head.

This is really all about how people should treat other people. And we just don't agree on enough basic premises of this topic.

(This is not about any of you who could possibly be reading this, just to clarify.)

I don't even know what we are talking about anymore sometimes [Jan. 6th, 2007|06:42 am]
I often look back at situations I get myself in and think how dumb I'd been to get myself into such a mess. But when I look back at all the little decisions that I made that helped me get there, I don't see which individual decision was dumb in itself. Its all how they pile up, or the order they are made, or something I forget.

Don't worry; there are, of course, the dumb messes I get myself into and I can clearly see each dumb decision that got me there.

Oh well. I guess I've gotten myself into some pretty good messes as well. Yes, yes, I have.

ppS-If I keep having to remind myself why this isn't a test, does that mean it's probably a test?))

Any year between freshmen and senior year is strange [Dec. 24th, 2006|03:19 am]
The first day I was back round these parts, still deep in my post-finals stupor and recovering from the chaos that was the past two weeks, it was hard for me to remember exactly why I love home. Tonight helped clarify things for me.

Some specific things that helped me remember:
1. An entire free pie from Bakers Square
2. Board games
3. Alone time
4. People time
5. Coffee with Jody
6. Driving around Indian Hill and looking at the lights
7. My Gangster Rap Coloring Book

On another note, I really really was serious a while back when I said I wanted to have a Winter Halloween. Please. Any interest? If not, I'm having it alone. And you know I will.

Tell your kids [Dec. 11th, 2006|01:42 am]

Right now, I feel a remarkable clear-headedness. I kind of understand why, but not completely. It probably won’t last for long, but I want to remember it.

Earlier this weekend I was going over a random collection of writings and notes from the summer.

Here are some that made me laugh and/or think, but mostly laugh:

A: There’s this comfort in it. I know I’m gonna fuck this relationship up today, but I know I’ll find another one to attach myself to that I can fuck up all over again.

Me: Your overwhelming cynicism is quite astounding.

A: I know. At least I have that going for me.

Michael: She needs to stop wearing those crazy goggles!

Hillary: Whatever time it is, it’s always too early.

This will never not work.

Make a birdhouse in your soul -TMBG

TO DO:

-get a tattoo that says “Shakira” on my hip

-find Shakira

-show her my tat

-scream repeatedly “MY HIPS DON’t LIE EITHER, SHAKIRA”

-bite her neck till she bleeds

Update [Oct. 28th, 2006|01:23 pm]
I fell off my bed again this week while soberly slumbering. WTF??

Three days ago Zach and I stole the president's pumpkin from in front of his house and lugged the huge thing up the hill to his dorm. Last night, we carved a penguin in it after I gutted it with my bare hands and then threw pumpkin goo at people. Also, I am Buffy the vampire slayer for Halloween. And it is the best costume ever.

Good idea: let's have another, bigger, better Halloween over Thanksgiving break. Or winter break, so everyone's there. Or every break. Good idea, yes? Yes.

This is what midterms do to me [Oct. 19th, 2006|09:34 am]
Last night, I fell off my bed, which is a good 3 feet off the ground. Then I decided it was too hard to get back in my bed, so I slept on the tile floor with my head on a hard-covered textbook.

(really not worth reading) [Oct. 18th, 2006|05:18 pm]
I have an urge to share that I am feeling really good. I went to a little weekend vacation to New Hampshire with some friends last weekend. The trees were beautiful and colorful; I ate straight maple syrup because it was so good. Then we picked apples and baked five apple crisps. Today I bought tickets to go see Wilco in Chicago over Thanksgiving break with three of my favorite people. Zach's dad is coming tomorrow. At lunch, they had yummy vegan brownies. The person I best relate to and respect the most here asked me to live with her off-campus next year. And instead of studying for my two midterms, I watched the Motorcycle Dairies last night.

And I drank way too much caffeine.

My roommate just sprinted out of the room with her coattails flying because she has to go save a life. Yeah.

Also, yesterday, a friend and I went driving and found a lake and trespassed and laid on the roof of a "bath house." I wanted it to be like a bath house from the Roman times, but it wasn't. But it was still pretty cool.
